Students of the University of Debrecen's Faculty of Informatics (IK) who participated in courses sponsored by Microsoft and NVIDIA have gained state-of-the-art IT knowledge and competitive certification. Students from the Faculty of Informatics at the University of Debrecen and the Vishwakarma Institute of Computer Science in India attended the online courses, with more than 4,000 students participating in the joint work, which mainly focused on data science, artificial intelligence and deep learning.

The University of Debrecen was the first and so far the only one in Hungary to achieve the highest platinum grade in the FISU Healthy Campus rating system. UD is currently one of only 38 institutions in the world with the highest rating in the area of quality of life and lifestyle on campus.

The teaching of the Japanese language was the primary focus of an international Japanese language conference hosted for the first time by the University of Debrecen (UD) on August 26 and 27. The conference, which was organized by the Foreign Language Center of the Faculty of Humanities (FoH), was attended by participants from as many as ten different countries.

Researchers affiliated with universities in countries like the United States, Belgium, Cuba, Poland, San Marino and Hungary gave papers on the background and global impact of the 1924 US Immigration Act as well as on key issues of migration at the University of Debrecen (UD). The international “hybrid” conference, titled Johnson-Reed 100 Years Later, was organized on August 22 and 23 by the Institute of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Humanities (FoH) at UD in cooperation with the American Hungarian Educators Association.

Four students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Food Science and Environmental Management at UD have become the recipients of a unique opportunity to study for six months at South Dakota State University as part of a program called Precision Agricultural Engineering. The four future professionals will be leaving for the overseas institution on Saturday, where they will get a chance to attend lectures and take practical courses on farming.

Students who studied at the Debrecen Summer School for a month and those who joined it for its second two-week section have done their final examination recently. Most of the students did a written exam. The exam tasks focused on grammar and vocabulary that the students mastered excellently. As many as 50 students passed the exam on the closing day of the Summer School.

The cooperation agreement between the Botanical Garden of the University of Debrecen and Hortobágy National Park has been renewed. From now on, the garden located at the edge of the Great Forest will not only help the national park with the preservation, propagation and replantation of endangered or extinct protected plants, but it will also plan and perform the aftercare and follow-up of the replanted plants.

This year, the 53rd World Medical Tennis Championship was hosted by Semmelweis University in Budapest. This is the third time this international sports event is organized in Hungary, after 1990 and 1998. More than 350 players from 25 countries gathered to compete in 8 women’s and 10 men’s categories. In addition, players also contested in the Nations’ Cup.

The team of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen won 3rd place in the Best Presentation category at a conference held in Singapore. The main aim of the International Conference on E-Learning in Industrial Electronics is to present the connection between modern education and e-learning methods.
